What we collect, why, and what we don't.

POPIA-compliant. Your calculator inputs never leave your browser. The only data we store is your email — if you opt in.

1. The short version

  • Calculator inputs run entirely in your browser. We never receive them.
  • We collect only your email address, and only if you opt in.
  • We use double opt-in. Unsubscribe is one click.
  • We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled.

2. Personal information we collect

When you submit the email-capture form, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • The page that the submission came from (for analytics)
  • The opt-in timestamp (for POPIA proof of consent)

We do not collect names, ID numbers, or any financial information through this site. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to us.

3. Local storage on your device

If you toggle "Remember on this device" on a calculator, we save your inputs to your browser's localStorage so you can return later and pick up where you left off. This data lives on your device only — we cannot read it. You can clear it at any time by toggling the switch off, by clicking "Reset", or by clearing your browser data.

4. Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators are popular and which content needs work. Visitor IPs are anonymised before logging. We do not use ads-personalisation cookies or remarketing pixels.

When AdSense is active (post-launch), the site displays a cookie consent banner per POPIA / GDPR.

5. Email marketing

Your email address is stored with our newsletter provider (MailerLite, EU-hosted). We send a maximum of one newsletter per quarter plus occasional rate-change alerts. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of that information.
  • Object to its processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

7. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
